![]() ![]() ![]() So, I've spent the last two days or so using the framework of the aforementioned thread to comb through and correct any mistakes or misunderstandings there were in the previous model. While this is the strongest attempt I've seen to solve this problem - and the Venetian hypothesis was ultimately correct - some understandable math errors were made, some factors (ToA+FG, TR interactions) were not completely understood (again, understandable since this game's mechanics are spaghetti), and a miscounting of maritime city states (15 not 22) made the final numbers inaccurate. The farthest I've seen someone go with this was in a brief interaction I had with /u/Pesto_Power on this thread. While I've seen some threads/posts entertaining this idea, nobody's (to my knowledge) really sat down and a) figured out just how all the mechanics of this work with each other, b) done the math considering every relevant variable at play, c) put it on the internet for everyone else to read and scrutinize. 'How big can I make this city?' or ultimately 'What's the biggest can I make a city, period?' are both questions that have frequently crossed my mind while playing Civ, and the latter has especially piqued my interest. So, I'm sure we've all thought about this at one point. ![]()
